Eat. Walk two steps. Repeat for seven hours.
That was my day at the Fancy Food Show in California. To say it was an amazing experience would be an understatement. The show is held twice a year (one time in San Francisco and one time in New York) and if you can ever make it to one, I highly encourage you to go.
Expect to see several cupcakes here based on products that I discovered at the show - starting with one of the best things I tried there, Nutorious Nut Confections.
I love candied nuts in my salads and have made my own on occasion, but Nutorious takes the candied nut to a new level. I was lucky enough to get to sample the four flavors you see above - not only did I get to try them at the show, but samples were waiting for me when I arrived back in St. Louis!
Check out these descriptions:
- Ooo La La Original - Walnuts, almond, and pecans in a rich buttery confection.
- Cranberry Orange Tango - Walnuts, almonds, pecans, and dried cranberries in a refreshing orange confection.
- Cherry Vanilla Va-Voom - Walnuts, almonds, pecans, and dried and Montmorency cherries in a sweet vanilla confection.
- Blueberry Lemon Meringue -Walnuts, almonds, pecans, and dried blueberries in a delicate lemon confection.
You can look at Nutorious' website to see where it is sold near you. In the meantime, leave a comment letting me know which flavor sounds the best to you and what you would do with it for a chance to win some!
One winner will win all 4 flavors described above and two other winners will win a bag of the Cranberry Orange Tango to use in a cupcake or anything else! The winners will be chosen randomly on the morning of Wed., Feb 4th. You may enter up until the time that I post the winners.
OMG - The lemon sounds divine. I would love to win these - they would be great on frozen yogurt or a spinach salad with grapefruit and fresh bluberries - Im thinking lemon poppyseed vinegarette....

ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot to actually answer the question in my excitement. I like the sounds of the lemon blueberry, too, just cuz it's so different. I usually do a butter spice mix, very far from lemon. I would just eat them or use them on a salad. No baking with, I don't think. It seems like that would melt off the yummy coating.
ReplyDeletewhile they all sound delicious, I'd definitely try the blueberry lemon meringue first, followed shortly by cherry vanilla va-voom.

They all sound wonderful! I think I would reach for the cherry mix first, then the blueberry, followed by the rest. Yum, yum!
ReplyDeleteI would try the vanilla first--if only for the name! Cherry Vanilla Va-Voom! Don't you love it? :) I'd also love to try the combination of blueberry lemon--what a great way to get a taste of spring time!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be the original, nuts and butter just sound divine!
ReplyDeleteThey all sound amazing, but the Blueberry Lemon Meringue? You had me at hello.
ReplyDeleteThe Cranberry Orange Tango sounds awesome! I would use it to make muffins!
ReplyDeleteYummy! They all sound amazing but I'd love to try the Ooo La La Original!
ReplyDeleteThe Blueberry Lemon Meringue flavor sounds fantastic. I'd probably just end up snacking on them myself, but I totally agree about candied nuts being amazing on salads.

I'm a "traditionalist" (or "plain Jane" if you will). I like the sound of the Ooo La La Original. I would make a yellow cake with cream cheese frosting and use the nuts as a garnish over the top. I hope I win so that I can try.
ReplyDeleteThe Fancy Food Show sounds like a dream!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say that I'd branch out, but the Ooo La La Original sounds yummy. Mmmm...butter and nuts.
While I love the description of the cranberry one for simple snacking (and a hundred other purposes flooding to mind), I'd love to try the cherry mix. I've only recently discovered that I like cherries in some forms. I'm thinking fruit & crunch factor in homemade ice cream, muffins, atop pudding, and (chopped up) as a crust on pork and beef roasts.
ReplyDeleteThe Ooo La La Original sounds great on some pancakes. Yum! I'm gonna have to find a place nearby that sells them.
ReplyDeleteI would love to use the cherry vanilla or lemon blueberry to make scones. Mmmmmm....
ReplyDeleteI think that the cherry vanilla va-voom would be great incorporated somehow into the Cherry Coke cupcakes that I have made before. I must admit I have never tried nuts in my salads though, it kind of scares me to try new things.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide between cranberry orange or the blueberry lemon! They both sound awesome. And since I'm into cupcakes, I'd probably just have to make cupcakes to match and just put the nuts on top of the frosting...
ReplyDeleteIf they lasted long enough to make it on the frosting!
Oh my...these all sound wonderful. But...I would pick the Blueberry Lemon Meringue. Why you ask? Because I am trying to eat healthier this year and we all know that blueberries are a super food right? That will justify my next batch of cupcakes...wont it? hee hee hee

My favorite would be Cranberry Orange Tango and I would try out a cranberry salad with these nuts. I would also use them as a ice cream and oatmeal topping and, probably best of all, right out of the bag.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!
I would choose the Blueberry Lemon Meringue. I would make a lemon cheesecake and use some of the nuts in the crust and put some on top with maybe alittle blueberry sauce drizzle on it.
ReplyDeleteI'd pick Cherry Vanilla Va-Voom first. I really like vanilla flavor. I'd use it to top fresh fruit with vanilla yogurt.
ReplyDeleteThe Cherry Vanilla Va-Voom is Right up my alley!! I would definitely make a vanilla bean coffee cake and bake this in, as well as put some in the streusel topping!!! YUMMM
ReplyDeleteI am so very happy we got to meet. For me, you were my first blog-sister and so it meant a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteThese nut mixes sound really good! I think I would take the Blueberry Lemon Meringue flavored mix and incorperate them into a buttery crust to be on the bottom of a lemon cheesecake topped with a lemon blueberry curd. Like a cheesecake blueberry lemon bar thing. :)
The cranberry-orange makes my mouth water. I would take the bag onto the golf course and munch during the round.

ReplyDeleteI would love the cranberry orange mix! I would probably use then in a cranberry tart or even in cranberry upsidedown cake!
ReplyDeleteBlueberry Lemon sounds so fresh and yummy....second would be the cherry vanilla. They all sound divine though :)
ReplyDeleteI also love nuts when I make salads. But I think they they may be good in a streusal atop muffins or bread, yum!
ooooo, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteYummy! That's what I think about all of the descriptions! My favorite nuts, so any would make my tummy happy!
ReplyDeleteOoh, blueberry lemon meringue sounds divine. I think I would serve these right in my mouth.
ReplyDeleteCherry Vanilla sounds so divine I almost peed my pants when I read the concoction!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cherry vanilla! I would probably eat it as a snack straight from the bag. :) And then have to get another bag to do something more interesting with it!
ReplyDeleteI have tried the original, cherry vanilla, and the cranberry orange. They are fabulos! If you are planning on baking with them, or using them in salads - make sure that you get double or even triple the amount! You won't be able to stop eating them! I'm not joking! I can't wait to try the blueberry!
ReplyDeleteI think the Ooo La La Original sounds great (although I love all sorts of candied nuts and fruit)...but what would I do with them...I'd throw all of the different flavors in a giant bag, shake 'em up & eat in mysteriously mixed up happiness. I may even share (doubtful though).
ReplyDeleteCranberry Orange Tango made my mouth water! That would liven up the Vanilla yogurt that I love. Whoa Nelly!!
ReplyDeleteEven if I don't win I'll hunt these down because they sound awesome. ;o}
I love the lemon-blueberry combo. One of my favorite recipes is for lemon blueberry bars. Mmmm.. but, really, they all sound great!
ReplyDeleteI'd fancy the blueberry lemon. I actually have plans to make Lemon Blueberry Walnut granola bars, and that mixture seems to be what I want to do.
ReplyDeleteOoo La La Original for me. I fancy a handful of it over spicy, fragrant gingercake and a pool of warm custard. Ooo la la, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe lemon sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCherry Vanilla Va-Voom or the Blueberry Lemon Meringue - sound amazing. I would put some in my morning yogurt or oatmeal.
ReplyDeleteI can't resist cherries, so I'd go for Cherry Vanilla Va-Voom, but the Blueberry Lemon Meringue would be a very close second.
ReplyDeletethe blueberry lemon meringue sounds dreamy!! i would use it for a yummy breakfast lemon something or other. or put it in an apple cupcake to have a fruit salad cupcake.
ReplyDeleteMmm the cherry vanilla va-voom sounds divine! It would be perfect on top of yogurt and finished off with a drizzle of honey... or just eaten plain :)
ReplyDeleteThey all sound delicious, especially the cranberry orange and lemon blueberry. These would definitely go on top of salads and mixed into yogurt at my house. If there was any left, I would think about incorporating them into baking...
ReplyDeleteWoow wow I am so jealous of you - I've always wanted to go to the Fancy Food Show (ironic because I'm already in the area!).
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I'd looove to try the Cherry Va Va Voom - thinking of adding it to granola to make it extra decadent ;)
Cherry vanilla -- just so I can sprinkle it over vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI would eat all of them, but the vanilla or the original sounds the best to me.
ReplyDeleteHow to eat them: plain or maybe mixed in some yogurt? salads sound good too. I love candied nuts!!!
They all sound fantastic! I think I would start with the original. Great for snacking and sounds fantastic for topping a salad with fresh greens and vinegarette! Cherry vanilla would be next on the list!

Original.
ReplyDeleteI would use in a salad, stir-fry, yogurt, or make an interesting dessert (either sprinkled on something, or use it in a food-processor to mix into a cupcake mix or cookie mix for a nutty, fruity flavor)

Blueberry Lemon Meringue sounds great. I think it might be great stirred into my meringue cookies!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm... You had me at lemon meringue. Gotta go with the blueberry lemon meringue mix. The food show sounds fun! Might have to make it next time its in Sacramento. Maybe give me a shoutout if you go again and we can meet up? :)

The blueberry lemon sounds amazing! I'd mix it into blueberry-or maybe banana-muffins and make a lemon glaze icing on top. The cherry vanilla sounds great too. I'd sprinkle it on top of vanilla yogurt or ice cream. Yum!
ReplyDeleteOoo la la original sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteThe Cherry Vanilla sounds the best! I would put it on top of some yogurt for a yummy breakfast!
